Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) Trainee Firefighters are trading in their hoses for sponges to tackle dirt and grime at their charity car wash on Saturday 2 December.
The trainees will be fighting filth instead of fires, ensuring cars look tiptop to raise funds for The Firefighters Charity, Northern Ireland Hospice, and Sands.
NIFRS Area Commander Paul Rogers said:
“Our Trainee Firefighters are geared up to wash cars for causes close to our hearts.
“We invite everyone to visit our Learning and Development Centre on Boucher Crescent, where you can get your car shining, enjoy the atmosphere, and most importantly, make a donation to these very worthy causes.”
The Fire Fighters Charity supports serving and retired fire and rescue service personnel, their dependants and other eligible members of the UK fire services community, throughout their lives, helping them to live happier and healthier.
Lyndsay Campbell, Northern Ireland Community Fundraiser at The Fire Fighters Charity, said: “I’d like to thank everyone involved in organising this car wash event.
“All funds raised on the day will go directly towards supporting our health and well-being services, and will undoubtedly make a life-changing difference to many individuals in our fire services community.”
Sands Northern Ireland Coordinator Steven Guy said fundraising events such as this are vital.
“They allow us to continue offering our support to bereaved parents, training for health professionals, and campaigning so that fewer babies will be lost.
“We are delighted and very grateful to the NIFRS trainees for choosing Sands to benefit from their charity car wash. Please support the trainees and in turn the charities they are supporting.”
Northern Ireland Hospice serves as a lifeline to thousands of individuals living with life-limiting illnesses and their families every year.
Michael Nugent, Community Fundraising Manager at Northern Ireland Hospice, said it promises to be a great day.
“We are thrilled that our wonderful friends at Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) will be supporting us this Christmas with their car wash.
“Our ability to continue the exceptional work we do relies on the support of our community and local businesses, with NIFRS leading the way.”
The NIFRS Charity Car Wash takes place on Saturday 2 December between 10am and 3pm at the NIFRS Learning & Development Centre, 79 Boucher Crescent, Belfast, BT12 6HU.
