About NIFRS
We are Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS).
We provide all of Northern Ireland – an area of over 5,500 square miles, with a population of 1.88 million – with fire and rescue services.
We are here to make Northern Ireland a safer place.
What we do
We respond to fires; road traffic collisions; and specialist rescue incidents including flooding, chemical incidents, collapsed buildings and a wide range of other emergencies.
NIFRS Board
The strategic direction, performance and scrutiny of NIFRS is overseen by The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service Board.
Your Area
NIFRS is divided into 4 operational Command Areas – Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western. The 4 Areas are supported by 14 Districts, strategically placed across Northern Ireland. There are 68 Fire Stations throughout these 14 Districts.

Executive Leadership Team
The Executive Leadership Team is responsible for ensuring NIFRS acts in accordance with the law and proper standards. They also ensure that public money is properly accounted for and used economically, efficiently and effectively.
Learning & Development Centre
Our new Learning & Development Centre is revolutionising how we train our Firefighters. It allows Firefighters to train in “real life” scenarios, imitating the hazards they face while protecting our community.
