Your Area
NIFRS is divided into 4 operational Command Areas – Eastern, Northern, Southern and Western. The 4 Areas are supported by 13 Districts, strategically placed across Northern Ireland.
There are 68 Fire Stations throughout these 13 Districts, serving their local community.
Our Headquarters is situated in Lisburn. Our Learning & Development Centre is situated in Boucher Crescent, Belfast and Phase 1 of our new Learning & Development Centre is based outside Cookstown.
Eastern Area
Eastern Area Command provides emergency cover for the greater Belfast Area; an area of 63 sq miles serving a population of around 360,000.
Northern Area
Northern Area Command provides emergency cover for County Antrim, and parts of County Derry / Londonderry and Down; an area of 1,308 sq miles serving a population of around 489,000.
Southern Area
Southern Area Command provides emergency cover for County Armagh and most of Down; an area of 1,454 sq miles serving a population of around 595,000 people.
Western Area
Western Area Command provides emergency cover for County Tyrone, Fermanagh and most of Derry / Londonderry; an area of 2,646 square miles serving a population of around 450,000 people.
