Rescue Service (NIFRS) is committed to the fundamental principles of Safeguarding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is Safeguarding?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Safeguarding is the term used to describe all of the measures NIFRS takes as an organisation to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of individuals, especially children and adults at risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>A child is anyone aged under 18 years of age.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An adult at risk is anyone aged 18 years or over who could be at risk of harm due to their personal or environmental circumstances.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Our Role in Safeguarding<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As an organisation, we recognise our responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of the community that we serve by ensuring that our training, policies and procedures, and reporting mechanisms are robust and fully support effective Safeguarding.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We believe that everyone has a fundamental right to be safe.&nbsp;Safeguarding is \u2018everyone\u2019s business\u2019 and we should all strive to prevent harm to children and adults at risk from abuse, exploitation, and neglect.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nifrs.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Child-Protection-Policy-V6.pdf\">Child Protection Policy<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nifrs.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Adult-Safeguarding-Statement-V1.pdf\">Adult Safeguarding Statement<\/a> outline what abuse is, what our role is in protecting children and adults at risk, and how we report abuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"testimonial bg-cream position-relative pt-5 pb-4 px-4\">\n    \t    <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"cust-img\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nifrs.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/NIFRS-PEOPLE-ELT-CFRO-JENNINGS-003-scaled-e1703006107290.jpeg\" alt=\"\" \/>\n    \t<div class=\"content-testimonial\">\n\t\t<i class=\"fas fa-quote-right fa-lg red-c\"><\/i>\n\t\t<blockquote class=\"body-r mb-0 py-3 review-text\">\n\t\t\t<p>As Chief Fire &amp; Rescue Officer\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<!-- RESIDENCE OF CUST -->\n\t\t<div class=\"cust-locality\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"mb-0 red-c body-r\">\n\t\t\t\tNIFRS\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Safeguarding Concern<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have a concern relating to the code of conduct of a member of NIFRS Staff or Volunteer please get in touch using our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nifrs.org\/contact-us\/\">Contact Us Form<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have an allegation of a criminal nature this should be reported to the PSNI using 999 or 101.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Safe Place <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile is-vertically-aligned-center\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>NIFRS has partnered with ONUS in supporting the Safe Place initiative which provides information for those affected by domestic abuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All of our Fire Service locations are designated Safe Places meaning that there will be information available at each site about what help and support is available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have also signed up to the Safe Place campaign pledge:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Never commit,\u202fcondone\u202for\u202fremain silent about domestic abuse.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide a Safe Place for\u202fanyone&nbsp;affected by domestic abuse&nbsp;to confidentially access information.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Acknowledge domestic abuse is a problem that impacts on all of us as a society, and will be prepared to play our part in supporting victims and state clearly to perpetrators that we will not tolerate abuse in our community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"362\" height=\"410\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nifrs.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/safe_place_logo_v2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7114 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nifrs.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/safe_place_logo_v2.png 362w, https:\/\/www.nifrs.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/safe_place_logo_v2-265x300.png 265w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 362px) 100vw, 362px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Safeguarding Northern Ireland Fire &amp;
