Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) is prepared and ready to respond to incidents across the province from challenging weather conditions as a result of Storm Éowyn.
NIFRS is reassuring the public that its contingency plans remain in place and will continue to respond to incidents should you need us in an emergency.
As part of the emergency response to Storm Éowyn, NIFRS is working alongside its partner agencies to help keep people safe.
Please adhere to the following safety advice:
- You can report an obstruction at www.nidirect.gov.uk or call the 24-hour number on 0300 200 7899.
- Please pay attention to road closure advice as many roads are closed for the safety of road users.
- If your journey is essential, reduce your speed, stay well behind the vehicle in front, remain focused and always wear your seatbelt.
- Motorists should be aware of road conditions. Drive at the speed the conditions allow for as it takes longer to stop when the road is wet.
- In the event of serious flooding phone the NI Flooding Incident Line on 0300 2000 100.
- Make sure you are prepared for a power cut by having a torch or battery operated candles ready.
- Stay clear of any damaged electricity equipment and report it immediately to NIE Networks on 03457 643 643.
- If you can, please check in with vulnerable family, friends and neighbours by telephone to ensure they are staying safe.
If there is a risk to life dial 999 immediately and we will respond. More information and advice can be found on www.nidirect.gov.uk.
