At 1.07 am on 27 October 2018, Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service received a call to a fire in commercial premises at Carnbane Industrial Estate, Newry. On arrival at the incident, initial crews were confronted by a well-developed fire in a single storey property. At the height of the incident there were 5 fire appliances, 1 Aerial Ladder Platform and a specialist Command Support Unit, with a total of 40 firefighters on the fire ground. The fire was brought under control with a water tower from the Aerial Ladder Platform and by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using firefighting jets. The cause of the fire is undetermined and a full fire investigation will take place.
