Firefighters were called to reports of a fire in a block of flats. 3 Appliances from Portadown Fire Station, 2 Appliances from Lurgan Fire Station and 1 Appliance from Armagh Fire Station attended the incident. A member of our Regional Control Centre provided fire survival guidance to a member of the public as Firefighters were dispatched. 1 male casualty was rescued from his flat using a ladder and was then taken to hospital by the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used 2 hose reel jets and 1 covering jet to extinguish the fire. The incident was dealt with by 9.05am and the scene was handed over to the PSNI. Advice was also given to the Northern Ireland Housing Executive on making the building safe. The cause of the fire is believed to have been deliberate ignition.
