During Halloween, Tuesday 31 October 2017, Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) has received 210 calls and attended 136 incidents across Northern Ireland.
These figures represent a decrease in both the number of calls received and the number of operational incidents attended for the same period 2016. (9.5% and 18.1% respectively).
69 of the mobilised incidents were fire related, 63 (91.3%) of which are believed to have been started deliberately. Many of these incidents involved bonfires and bonfire materials.
Operational crews came under attack whilst in attendance at incidents in the Armagh, Belfast, Keady and Crossmaglen areas. Thankfully, no personnel sustained injuries however; an appliance was slightly damaged during the Keady incident.
The mobilised incident figure includes 7 incidents resulting from ‘Hoax calls’.
