Fatal Flat Fire – West Belfast

A Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) Spokesperson said:

 “A woman has tragically lost her life following a fire yesterday (5 February 2017) at a flat in the Ardnaclowney Drive area of West Belfast.  The thoughts and sympathies of NIFRS are with her family and friends at this difficult time.

“NIFRS received the Automatic Fire Alarm call at 3.55pm on Sunday afternoon and Fire Crews from Springfield and Cadogan Fire Stations responded to the incident.

“The woman in her 60’s was rescued and taken to hospital suffering from severe burns but sadly later died. Three other residents were treated at the scene for the effects of smoke inhalation by Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.

“Firefighters dealt with a fire in the kitchen which is being treated as accidental.

“The incident was dealt with at 5.08pm”
