Top Trainee

Out of a full course of students, only one can receive the coveted Top Trainee award.  This award is given to the trainee who, in the opinion of the course instructional staff has achieved the highest standard throughout the 16 week course.
In recognition the Top Trainee will receive 3 awards: –
  • The Fire Authority Shield
  • The George Moore Trophy
  • Statuette

Runner Up Trainee

The Runner Up in the Top Trainee contest also receives the following award: –
  • Statuette

Breathing Apparatus Award

In January 2001, a new award was introduced to recognise performance as Breathing Apparatus (B.A.) wearer.  The award will be presented to the Wholetime Trainee who is adjudged the top overall B.A. student.
The wearing of B.A. allows a firefighter to enter and work safely in unrespirable atmospheres to carry out firefighting and rescue operations.
This places great responsibility on wearers to perform at their best.  The B.A. course is very intensive and covers all aspects of B.A. use.  The winner of this award is therefore the student who has excelled throughout the course.
The winner receives the following 2 awards: –
  • The Breathing Apparatus Trophy
  • Statuette
