The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service Board was established from 1 July 2006 with powers granted under the Fire & Rescue Services (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 and replaces the Fire Authority for Northern Ireland. The Board is responsible for steering the future management and operational direction of  Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service.
