The newly constituted Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service Board was established from 1 July 2006 with powers granted under the Fire & Rescue Services (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 and replaces the Fire Authority for Northern Ireland. The Board will be responsible for steering the future management and operational direction of  Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service.
